Irem Eldem, MD, started fellowship in 2020. She is currently working in the DiPaola lab, where her research focuses on the role of tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) in the early phases of the procoagulant response and endotoxin-induced coagulation. The benefits of pharmacological target of TFPI will be helpful for bleeding and thrombosis disorders such as hemophilia and East Texas syndrome. Another potential benefit will be to understand the inflammation related coagulopathy via TFPI such as in COVID patients.
